Ways To Lower Event Cleaning Costs

|April 11, 2023

It may seem counterintuitive, but event cleaning is as critical to event success as any other part of the before, during, and after portions of events. The trick is to understand that event cleaning is a process that requires preparation and execution during all three portions – before, during, and after the completion of an event.

Prior to the beginning of an event, it’s necessary to establish a plan for cleaning during and after the conclusion of an event, with clear roles and tasks assigned to cleaning personnel, and access to all necessary supplies. Cleaning during an event is important in allowing the event to proceed without disruption, and should be almost invisible or unnoticeable. Everything after an event ends and attendees leave is exactly as you would imagine. One thing you can’t avoid through these stages is the overall cost, so here are 3 ways to lower event cleaning costs:

Hire Your Own Cleaning Team

There aren’t many event spaces that don’t include a cleaning fee contingent upon your ability to sufficiently clean their space after your event. These fees can be especially high since the pandemic raised the bar for public health and hygiene standards. Cleaning fees don’t represent the direct cost of cleaning, though. They represent the cost of the event space hiring a third-party cleaning service to perform the necessary tasks, meaning you pay for the cost plus the time and effort it takes for the event space to obtain services. If you hire your own cleaning team, you cut out the cost of the middle man.

Invest In Your Own Cleaning Supplies

If you hired your own cleaning team, it’s likely you’re already saving on the cost of cleaning supplies through them as such service providers have access to wholesale suppliers through which they obtain their own supplies. If you haven’t, it’s worth creating relationships with wholesale suppliers to be able to purchase supplies as necessary. Keeping cleaning costs low means avoiding paying premiums for cleaning supplies.

Automate When & Where You Can

Lowering the cleaning costs of your event through automation depends on the size and location of your event, as well as the events that take place – no pun intended! The reality is that time is money, so the longer it takes to complete the post-event cleaning, the more it will cost you. If your event hosted hundreds of people in a large space, then there are ways to automate your post-event tasks that would save a ton of time. One way is to use an automatic floor scrubber to clean large event space floors instead of relying on individuals to mop. Another is to use an electrostatic disinfectant sprayer instead of wet wipes or the usual spray bottle and rag combination.
