Country Club – Make It Shine
|March 10, 2022
Commercial cleaning and maintenance looks mostly the same across most different types of commercial facilities, from warehouses, to offices, retail spaces, and more. Fundamentally, the same can be said about the cleaning and maintenance of country clubs. However, country clubs differ slightly from other people-facing places. First off, a country club’s patrons aren’t really called customers or clients, they’re called members. That alone says a lot, but let’s dive a bit more into it. Country club members often pay hefty annual membership fees for access to exclusive, luxurious facilities, so it’s safe to say that they have high expectations all across the board. One of those expectations is cleanliness, of course. No amount of amenities and comforts will please your country club members if your country club isn’t clean – that’s a fact. Short on ideas? Here are some tips for making your country club shine:
Create (a Minimum of) Three Different Cleaning Schedules
You should have a minimum of three different cleaning schedules for your country club. These include daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks. The degree and depth of cleaning, as well as the time and effort required for each, increases from daily to monthly, obviously, but a combined commitment to all three is necessary if you want your country club to shine.
Shining & Polishing
Trophy cabinets, trophies, decorations, memorabilia, wooden plaques, and other items of tradition are staples in country club culture. It doesn’t take long for these things to fade, get smudged, and collect dust. Routinely shining and polishing these things will (literally) ensure your country club shines. Being of the more noticeable things in every country club, your members will recognize and appreciate your efforts.
Steam Cleaning
Steam cleaning is a very useful tip. Most country clubs have unique and often expensive furniture and upholstery. Over time, these things get dusty and/or dirty. Given their assumed value and material sensitivity, steam cleaning should be your preferred method of maintenance, and your club members will appreciate it.
Entries & Exits
The country club experience often begins way before anyone steps in through one of your entrances. Specifically, let’s say it starts just outside any and all of your entrances. What members see as they park and walk in should be clean, organized, and inviting. Walkways should be cleared of debris (perhaps with the use of a leaf blower) throughout the day as needed. Ramps, rails, door handles, door surfaces, and windows should be wiped and cleaned at the start of each day, and throughout the day as necessary, too. Garbage cans should be emptied and their bin liners replaced.
Conversely, the same standard should be applied to the exits, or areas just inside of your club entrances. Why? Your country club’s entrances and exits will be the first and last impressions for anyone coming and going. The cleaning that exits require differ slightly, such as vacuuming carpets and runners.
