3 Janitorial Services You Don’t Want to Miss at Your Office
|February 26, 2021
Before the pandemic, it’s safe to say that the average person didn’t get super excited when thinking about their office, and especially not when thinking about cleaning their office. Even in the case of people who love their job, their company, and their workspaces, rolling up the sleeves and beautifying that place where you and all of your coworkers gather doesn’t generate much excitement since it isn’t in the job description.
If it is your job description – queue janitorial services – then perhaps you should get excited. Either way, office spring cleaning in 2021 is a good sign. It means that life is returning to normal as companies clean up to prepare for the return of the workforce. Here are three janitorial tasks that you don’t want to miss at your office:
1. Vents, Vent Grills & Air Filters
Ventilation – good ventilation – is one of the more important but less talked-about points in office janitorial services. Service to and of ventilation systems isn’t always left up to specialized professionals. A janitorial service with the best interest of your office at heart will include your vents and vent grills in their process.
In the unlikely event that your janitorial service provider cannot perform the necessary maintenance, they should at least bring it to your attention. Why is this important? Good ventilation and clean vents, filters, and vent grills mean better air circulation, and this is better for respiratory health. Further, airborne viruses (like COVID-19) easily attach to and circulate with dust particles making it all the more important that your vents and vent grills are cleaned and air filters replaced.
2. Disinfecting
Disinfecting, though very much a part of the traditional cleaning process, has never been more important. It’s the type of step that’s included in any half-decent janitorial service (and if it isn’t, perhaps you should seek a better service), but goes unnoticed unless your workforce experiences widespread illness, in which case it’s noticed for the wrong reasons.
Experts recommend all surfaces that are to be disinfected should first be cleaned with a solution consisting of warm to hot water that is mixed with the appropriate amount of traditional detergent. Just make sure that the detergent is surface-appropriate so as not to damage your office goods. After that, using an EPA-approved disinfecting solution should do the trick.
3. Dusting
Along the same lines of what we cited regarding service to your office ventilation, dusting is another janitorial service you do not want to miss. Do NOT wait for dust to collect noticeably on desks, overhead fans, table tops, window shutters and sills, or other high or low traffic surfaces. Germs, bacteria, and airborne viruses love to hitch a ride on dust. Make sure it’s a part of your routine janitorial services, and you will see the benefits it has to your workforce in the long term!
